(November 15, 2010) Rowland Constructors recently completed work on a church expansion located in Lawton, OK.  Lawton First Assembly of God, an 84-year old church, has been located on its current site for over 26 years.  This was Rowland Constructor’s third project responding to the church’s growing need for expanded facilities.

Lawton First Assembly of God chose the Rowland Construction Team to help them with the expansion.  A connection between the existing worship center and youth center produced a total of 42,000 square feet of expansion space.  The two-story building is designed to promote community gatherings amongst congregants and their guests.  The multipurpose design creates an open atmosphere including a naturally lit atrium and check-in area.  The relocated café/bookstore is configured to be open to the community area, while providing a quiet café chat room for patrons to enjoy.

In addition, more children classroom spaces were added as well as an elementary chapel, a twostory indoor playscape, hospitality room and additional restrooms.  For future use, the second floor was constructed to provide future growth for anticipated classrooms and restrooms.

The grand opening of the new building took place on Sunday November 7th.  The historic day was packed with fun and exciting events for everyone.  Over 2,100 congregants, neighbors and community members attended to join in the festivities which included breakfast in the naturally lit atrium, followed by two worship services and an outside reception.  “It has been exciting to work with such a dynamic congregation and to be able to aid in their ministries growth”, states Bill Rowland, Managing Partner for Rowland Constructors who was also in attendance along with PSA Dewberry, the Architect for the project.
